Hey Ladies!

Something I'm drawing for fun. I cant sleep lately, so why not draw girls? I feel like I would excel as an illustrator for beauty magazines! Ya know those little doodles they throw in next to articles for things like "How To Find The Perfect Shade of Lipstick". 

Lana Del Rey Tribute

This is a page from my sketchbook inspired by the song "Dark Paradise" by Lana Del Rey. The lyric I was most interested in was "...There's no remedy for memory...".

I love her album "Born To Die" its so nice to have an album you can listen to all the way through. I'm teaching myself "Video Games" on the guitar right now. Its a great song to practice playing if your a beginner like myself. 

I used a lot of different mediums on this one and was able to get a matte effect. Now I want to use a more reflective paint to contrast the bottle with the label and background. 

Big Sister

This is a photo of a family friend of mine. His name is Tanner and his family is going through a rough time right now. Sometimes parents cant give their children the time they need when dealing with a family crisis. I have been offering my time to Tanner the past few months as sort of a big sister. I cant afford to buy him cool stuff or take him any where fun to play and thats ok. All he needs is someone to include him. 

He really likes to draw and being an artist I am more than happy to encourage his creativity. For Christmas I gave him some of my old art materials that I dont use and he has been enjoying them ever since, including some very nice markers that he was eyeing!  

I saw him yesterday for a pizza/ movie night and watched The Nightmare Before Christmas. He helped me clean my room and showed me his new Sonic The Hedgehog comic and a picture he is trying to paint. While cleaning my room we found my old Nintendo DS and gave it to him then we played Scribblenauts. 

One of my favorite memories with Tanner is when I let him draw in my sketchbook. I told him how special my sketchbook was to me and that I never let anyone draw in it. He appreciated me including him in something that iss important to me and is becoming important to him as well.

I think one of the biggest struggles for children is people treating them like children. Often they are smarter than all of us. I will learn more from Tanner than he will learn from me.  

Monster Piano and business card thoughts

Inked sketch from sketchbook. Should I color them to help seperate them from each other? I really like ink as a medium and I need to start looking at other techniques artists use with it.

Some fun sketches I did the other night for fun.

Keep Drawing!

I was cleaning my room today and found a bunch of old sketchbooks. I was looking through them and thinking of who I was when I was filling them. Its interesting to look back at observation drawings and remember where I was or who I was with and why I wanted to capture that thing in my sketchbook at that specific moment. Most of the drawings were bad but I remember how hard I was trying and even now I can see improvement in my self as I scroll through each sketchbook.
I think its true what people say, everyone has bad drawings in them and you have to draw as much as possible to get them out. A comfort you can take in this is you will never go backward in skill. You will only get better.

Recent Sketchbook Stuff

I have been working out a lot of ideas in my sketchbook recently. I made a cover page based on a quote my boss told me. The more I get to know him the more he has become a character to me.

I also have been doing some more observational drawing. I really love  to draw people but lately I have been so focused on story boards for senior project that I haven't had time to. I realized how much I missed it and its made me want to draw a lot more for fun.

Also I miss my dog. As scared as I am about graduating one thing that makes me feel better is knowing that I'll be able to live with my dog again. I also want to get a dalmatian really bad.

These are just some sketches for my projects I'm working on.
