Florence Selfie

Today is my first day back from work after vacation and isn't that always the hardest? What should I do to get back into the swing of things? I would love your suggestions!

I am planning to make a big blog post of my trip for you! All the things we saw, did and best of all ate. For now here is a Florence selfie to hold you over.

Ciao mi amici! - Bye my friends!

Illustration Progress

For those of you who do not know I am illustrating a children's read-along book with amazing music! The story is, as you could have guessed, The Nutcracker! Here are some of my illustrations I have created so far and if you just can't wait until I am finished then make sure to download the album off of itunes for your friends, family and of course little ones.

 Such scary eyes!!!

This is one of my favorite pages. I need to make a few touch ups but I really love it for the most part.

This one needs some work but I am excited at the drastic color changes I have made with the background and wanted to show you anyway. :)

Graphic Design and Illustration Work

Some of my recent graphic design work for Rethink Autism! (Sorry these images aren't higher quality. They will have to do for now.)

Where Would A Disney Princess Go For Vacation?

Here is my favorite Dream Mining video I have worked on to date! I made a lot of the assets I animated in it. Like Snow White in her bathing suit, Cinderella's dresses that Lily snap's on to screen and the You Tube thumbnail below. I'm getting the swing of things and I love my new job at Driver Digital ;)

I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making it! Here are some other awesome videos I made recently! I loved the script for this Minion Inspired video and I had fun designing my first Super Hero look book!

A New Job!

I am happy to say that I have a new job! My goal has always been to get into a company that is based in Children's Media. Since I moved to New York I primarily worked at FleishmanHillard and some other places as well. They were all great experiences and gave me huge stepping stones in my career.
However, I am happy to close that chapter of my life and move forward to make the kind of work I want.
I said I have a new job but its really more like two new jobs. I feel lucky enough to have one great opportunity but beyond blessed to have two! First and most excitedly I will soon be an Editor and Motion Graphics Artist for the company Driver Digital!

Driver Digital is a children's entertainment company whose prime goal is to make kids laugh! I can't wait to start and show you some of the cool things I will get to be a part of. Some of the clients are Disney, Mattel, PBS Kids and other great children companies. I don't want to spoil the project I will be working on yet....so stay tuned!

Secondly, I will be creating educational materials for children with special needs at Rethink Autism on a per project basis. They are an amazing company that provides help to not only school programs and teachers but parents who need guidance as well. This is very special to me because when I was little I struggled with learning math and it didn't get any easier for me until I was taught how to count visually. This is one of the many things this company touches upon. Theres a million ways to learn something and I love what they stand for.

I don't have anything to show you yet for Driver Digital but you can check out my first project assignment for Rethink Autism. This one is based on a fairy tale theme and helps teach kids about memorization using fairy tales stories. Let me know what you think!

Page #1

An in progress shot of an illustration I am working on for a children's book. I have been designing layouts for a few months and I am finallly in the painting stage! I still have to add more detail like the children's faces but I am really happy with the color palette. Painting is so rewarding, I feel great after working on this.

Sangria Anyone?

I made this at work for an invite to an internal party. My team won best new bussiness at the monthly all staff meeting. We won a literal cup and its huge. We get to pick what alcohol we want to have and they supply it every Friday for a month. That's the jist! I feel like it has a 60's vibe :)

Figure Drawing

I am excited to have found a new place to get back into figure drawing. That new place is Spring Studios its a great place to draw! If you're in New York I really recommend this. I have been to a few not so nice places in the boroughs. This is affordable, quaint and in a great area. Most importantly no matter how busy your schedule is you can make a class! They have several classes a day running through out the day.
I also loved that there location was filled with different kinds of easels, desks and mountains of art books to peruse during model breaks. I also liked that its monitored not teaching, for me I just need the model not a full lesson. One of my many goals this year is to create a new portfolio and new figure drawings is a must. So here is the first of many "Figure Drawing!" posts of the year.

Valentines Day Cards

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines Day! Here are some of the cards I made for my own loved ones!

The first is a celestial themed Valentine for my boyfriend Alex. We spent our Valentines Day at the American Museum of Natural History's Planetarium, drinking champagne under the stars. Fun Fact: The back of the card has a list of our dates and it just so happens that our 14th date was on February 14th!

The second is a Christian themed Valentine for my Mom. This Bible verse means "Love is the bond of perfection". Also, my Mom loves birds and has even owned a white Dove. :)

Lastly, a Valentine for my best friend Reebs! One day I asked Reebs what her own dream house was and took note to draw it later next to my own. The line at the bottom is "Our paths will always cross."

Share Art Wednesday: Nathalie Ragondet

Nathalie Ragondet is a french illustrator that I find very inspiring. I encourage you to explore her blog and look at her very talented illustrations. I reached out to her over email a few months back to tell her how much I admire her work. Here is a quote from her I would like to share from our short exchange that I think is great advice for all creators.

"There is always something to learn or discover and it's good to practice as much as possible, to be curious and open to the comments one can do about your work, and don't forget to have fun of course. "

Don't forget to have fun everyone! :)

Jim Kay is the new illustrator for the re-released version of Scholastics Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. Check out the article by The Guardian for more info. I have been a Harry Potter fan since I was a kid and have read all the books. I love his design of Hermione! Its closer to how I imagined her to look in my own imagination.

Sensu Painting

My first painting with my Sensu Paint brush! This is one of my Christmas presents that I finally got a chance to play with. I downloaded the app "Procreate" on my iPad to test it out with. I didn't even realize until the end that it recorded a video! Cool. Sorry its a boring still life.
